In a move which echoes 888’s suggestion last week that 2010 will prove to be a year of year of mergers and acquisition in the casino industry, 32Red Casino has purchased Golden Lounge. The UK casino giants confirmed this morning that they had acquired Golden Lounge casino, which is licensed in Kahnawake and powered by Microgaming, under an agreement which will mean 32Red now owns all of Golden Lounge’s business assets. Such assets include player databases and information, all-owned domain names and all other “intellectual property”. 32Red has also bought up all of the casino’s liabilities, which include player balances believed to worth £115,000.
It’s been speculated that 32Red Casino have purchased Golden Lounge in an effort to crack the ever-elusive European gaming market. Whilst Playtech brands such as Europa Casino have managed to integrate themselves with European consumers, up until now 32Red Casino have remained a primarily UK brand. This morning, Ed Ware practically confirmed speculation regarding 32Red’s new Euro-focused direction by suggesting that both Golden Lounge and their other new acquisition, Nedplay, have “historically focused on European territories away from the UK, whereas 32Red continues to be a UK-centric brand”. It’s believed 32Red Casino is keen to crack the emerging gaming markets in both France and Italy.
