Kahnawake and Antigua Reach Online Casino Licensing Agreement

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission, in Canada, and the Directorate of Offshore Gaming in Antigua and Barbuda have reached a new agreement which will allow licensees to host their servers in either jurisdiction. The licensers have formed an "inter-jurisdictional alliance", which will mean that casino licensees in either Kahnawake or Antigua and Barbuda can choose to move their business to either island. It's believed that Mohawk Internet Technologies, which houses the servers used by online casinos licensed in Kahnawake, will benefit from more business, while Antigua will be able to utilise MIT's vast array of technology.

However, questions have been raised about the suitability of the Kahnawake Gaming Commission as a partner to Antigua and Barbuda. At the moment, Antigua is currently a whitelisted jurisdiction, which means operators based there can legally advertise in the UK. Kahnawake, on the other hand, isn't whitelisted, nor does it have the backing of the local government in Quebec, Canada. The general counsel for the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, Murray Marshall, has made clear that "Antigua's white list is only a benefit to Antigua's licensees", although, according to the Montreal Gazette, Marshall did note that it offers "an unprecedented degree of flexibility for licensing".
