Vikings Saints NFC Championship Betting Preview

Oddsmakers at most online sports book sites such as BetUS.com have the Saints at a -3.5 point spread favorite for the NFC Championship game that takes place this Sunday. Interestingly, most sports books have reported an almost equal betting volume on either team.

For Brett Favre, the game represents somewhat of a homecoming, as he won his only Super Bowl title 13 years ago in the Super Dome. Favre produced one of his best performances ever last Sunday in a 34-3 demolition job of the Dallas Cowboys. His four-touchdown was the first ever of his his post-season career.

For New Orleans, Drew Brees scored 34 touchdowns to earn the top seed in the NFC and take the Saints one step closer to what would be their first ever Super Bowl appearance.

Brees was again masterful against Arizona with 247 yards in a 45-14 win.

Both Brees and Favre have many offensive options. For New Orleans, Marques Colston and Robert Meachem each have nine touchdown receptions this season, and Pierre Thomas, Mike Bell and Reggie Bush have all rushed to five touchdowns or more.

Minnesota fans will hope that the Favre to Rice magic continues, after Rice's three touchdown catches last week (a tied NFL postseason record). Favre has successfully called on tight end Visanthe Shiancoe and offensive Rookie of the Year Percy Harvin this year and there is of course the massive threat posed by Adrian Peterson, whose 18 rushing touchdowns leads the league this year.
